Unwanted electrical equipment is one of the fastest growing waste streams in many countries.
Many electrical items can be repaired, reused, or recycled. Recycling helps recover valuable materials and reduces the need for new raw resources. If electrical equipment is thrown away in general waste, it may end up in landfill where hazardous substances can leak into soil and water, potentially harming wildlife and human health.
Can broken electrical items be recycled?
Yes. Electrical items do not need to be working to be recycled. Recycling facilities can recover valuable materials even from broken products.
What is the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol?
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol appears on many electrical products and packaging. It indicates that the item should not be disposed of in household waste.
Instead, these items should be taken to an appropriate electrical recycling point so they can be safely processed and recycled.
How can I recycle?
We are pleased to offer our members the chance to recycle their old electrical items when purchasing a new item from us.
To recycle your item:
- Delete any personal data from devices
- Remove any batteries if possible and recycle them separately.
- Bag the item securely.
- Take it to your nearest electrical recycling drop-off point.

Under Germany's Battery Law Implementation Act (BattDG), manufacturers must cover the costs of the legally required collection, treatment, and recycling of waste batteries. This cost is already included in the displayed product price and is not charged separately.
How is the fee calculated?
The fee is based on the actual weight of the battery contained in the product (not the total product weight), currently averaging €0.55 per kilogram of battery weight. This average rate is subject to change.
